Lovely Professional University (LPU) hosted a grand celebration honouring the research achievements of more than 2,700 student scholars across diploma, undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programmes, awarding financial incentives totalling ₹1.65 crore.

The event was graced by Chief Guest Sayyid Sadiqali Shihab Thangal, Kerala State President of the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) and Chairman of its National Political Advisory Committee, along with Guests of Honour E.T. Mohammed Basheer (Lok Sabha MP) and P.V. Abdul Wahab (Rajya Sabha MP). The ceremony was presided over by Dr. Ashok Kumar Mittal, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) and Founder Chancellor of LPU, with Col. Dr. Rashmi Mittal, Pro-Chancellor of LPU, also in attendance.

In his address, Dr. Mittal highlighted research as the foundation of societal advancement and reaffirmed LPU’s vision of creating knowledge that contributes to both national growth and global progress. He welcomed the distinguished delegation from Kerala and praised the inauguration of the Punjab Shihab Thangal Cultural Centre near the campus.

LPU’s research credentials include 28,000+ publications, 2,58,800+ Scopus citations, an H-index of 174, 2,900+ intellectual property rights, ₹97.8 crore worth of funded projects, and over 550 global research tie-ups.

The highest student incentive of ₹1.79 lakh went to a PhD scholar, while top-performing postgraduate and undergraduate researchers received ₹63,000 and ₹26,000, respectively.

Addressing the gathering, Sayyid Sadiq Ali Shihab Thangal praised LPU for fostering an inclusive academic culture and providing a platform for diverse talent to excel. E.T. Mohammed Basheer described the institution as one that lives by the ethos of “paying back more than what we received,” while P.V. Abdul Wahab lauded LPU as a trendsetter in India’s higher education space.
