Witty International School, Malad, hosted a special session to mark World Mental Health Day, attended by 120+ students from Grades 8 to 10. The initiative offered students an open platform to reflect on their emotions and participate in meaningful discussions on well-being.

The session was led by Ms. Aparna Verma, Founder of Yellow and Blue Counselling Practice, who brings over two decades of experience in mental health counselling and wellness programmes across India and Singapore. Designed to raise awareness about emotional well-being, the event helped students recognise common mental health challenges and equipped them with simple, practical ways to manage stress and build resilience. The programme featured a 30-minute presentation on key aspects of mental health and emotional balance, followed by a 60-minute Fireside Chat where students engaged in open discussions on issues such as stress, anxiety, low self-esteem, academic pressures, peer influence, social media, and lifestyle changes.

“It’s heartening to see schools like Witty International School focusing on mental health. By creating safe spaces where students can openly talk about their feelings and seek support, we are helping build a generation that is self-aware, resilient, and empathetic,” said Ms. Aparna Verma.

“Our mission goes beyond academics. Sessions like this help students understand their emotions, develop empathy, and build confidence. They also learn how to support their peers and create a positive school community,” said Ms. Sonia Rana, Principal, Witty International School, Malad. “We want every student to feel safe, heard, and valued, so they can thrive both in school and in life. Programmes like these reinforce our commitment to their overall growth, not just their academic success,” she added.
