Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology Delhi (IIIT-Delhi) has announced that its competitive programming team, ‘Weak Testcase’, has secured a place to compete at the 2026 ICPC World Finals to be held in Dubai from November 15-20, 2026. ICPC World Finals 2026 holds special significance as this year Dubai will be hosting the 50th ICPC World Finals. It will bring together more than 130 elite teams from around the world to celebrate multiple decades of excellence in competitive programming.

The team comprises three talented undergraduate students from IIIT-Delhi: Abhishek, pursuing B.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering, Batch of 2027; Jatin Aggarwal, pursuing B.Tech in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence, Batch of 2027; and Piyush Keshan, pursuing B.Tech in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence, Batch of 2027.

The Institute considers this a major achievement and an incredible chance for it to be represented for the fourth time at the ICPC World Finals. This milestone has cemented the Institute’s reputation among India’s best institutions in the area of Competitive Programming and Algorithmic Problem Solving.

The International Collegiate Programming Contest is frequently dubbed the ‘Olympics of Coding,’ with approximately 3,000 colleges from 111 different countries fielding some of the world’s highest-skilled student programmers. Participants at the ICPC compete to solve complex algorithmic problems under tight deadlines, putting their logical reasoning abilities, programming skills and cooperative skills to the test.

Team Weak Testcase has made a successful multi-level qualification journey that places it on this international level. First, they established themselves as top performers in the online preliminary round in which more than 3,000 teams participated. Next, they advanced through the onsite regional championships and produced a high level of play for five consecutive hours in an ICPC-style contest. Finally, the team qualified in the Asia West Continental Championship against some of the best programming teams in Western Asia.

Sharing his experience, Piyush, a member of Team Weak Testcase, said, “The journey to ICPC World Finals has been an incredible learning experience. Our team members pushed ourselves through consistent practice and teamwork. We are grateful for the support and encouragement provided by IIIT-Delhi for this opportunity.”

Competitive programming has been and remains a major component of the student learning ecosystem at IIIT-Delhi. The institute continues to provide support to competitive programming via its student-club named FooBar and dedicated courses in competitive programming every year, allowing students to advance their understanding of competitive programming principles and techniques.
