InvoiceCloud, a provider of digital billing and payment solutions, recently organised a Braille Storybook Making activity at its Hyderabad Global Capability Centre (GCC) as part of its employee volunteering and community engagement efforts in India. Organised in partnership with SoulAce, the activity brought together 65 employees from engineering, product, and operations teams to create seven tactile Braille storybooks for children at Devnar School for the Blind in Hyderabad.

Employees contributed 65 volunteering hours, with each volunteer participating in a one-hour session focused on creating Braille and tactile storybooks. The activity involved transcribing children’s stories into Braille and adapting them into accessible formats, with tactile illustrations created using varied textures and raised graphics to make stories more engaging and accessible.

The storybooks were developed in a dual-media format, allowing children with visual impairments to read alongside their peers, caregivers, or educators, turning storytelling into a shared experience built around every child’s learning needs.

The completed books will benefit children at Devnar School for the Blind, an organisation that supports the education, rehabilitation, and community integration of children and young people with visual impairments. The storybooks will become part of the school’s library, giving students access to engaging reading material in accessible formats that are often limited. This effort is aimed at supporting early literacy, independent learning, and more equitable classroom participation.

Speaking on the activity, Biju Davis, Senior Vice President and India Site Leader of InvoiceCloud, said, “Our India centre is built around technology, collaboration, and a strong sense of community. The Braille Storybook Making activity gives our employees an opportunity to support inclusion in a hands-on and meaningful way. Through this effort, we hope to contribute reading material that children can engage with more independently, while also making storytelling a more shared and inclusive experience.”

Rama Krishna Vaddadi, Principal, Devnar School for the Blind, said, “Our students do not need sympathy, they need access. Access to stories, to learning, to the same experiences every child has. These books deliver exactly that, and we are grateful to InvoiceCloud for understanding the difference.”
