Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Bhupendrabhai Patel visited NAMTECH (New Age Makers’ Institute of Technology), India’s first Manufacturing Engineering Technology (MET) institute, at its campus in Godhavi, Ahmedabad, on November 3. During the visit, he was introduced to NAMTECH’s distinctive approach to engineering and technology education, which integrates academic learning with hands-on training, experiential laboratories, applied research and close industry collaboration.
The Chief Minister toured the institute’s facilities and explored its academic and innovation ecosystem, which spans smart manufacturing, semiconductors, sustainability, artificial intelligence, automation and other emerging technologies.
He also interacted with members of the NAMTECH Board and its leadership team, learning about the institute’s initiatives to develop future-ready talent for India’s evolving manufacturing and technology sectors. He was briefed on the MET Platform and NAMTECH’s expanding network of partnerships with industry, academia and technology leaders. These collaborations are aimed at accelerating translational research, fostering innovation and providing learners with direct exposure to technologies shaping the future of manufacturing.
The Chief Minister appreciated the institute’s alignment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Viksit Bharat, particularly its efforts to upskill the manufacturing workforce and strengthen India’s industrial capabilities.
“Gujarat has always been at the forefront of industrial development, innovation and entrepreneurship, and institutions like NAMTECH are important partners in this journey. I am confident that the institute will play a significant role in building a skilled workforce and an innovation ecosystem that will power India’s journey towards becoming a global manufacturing leader,” he said.
Welcoming the Chief Minister, Dr. Ibrahim Hafeezur Rehman, Director General and CEO, NAMTECH, said the visit was a source of encouragement for the entire team and reinforced the institute’s commitment to advancing Gujarat’s vision of industrial growth and innovation.
