The Common University Entrance Test (CUET UG) introduced this year by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and adopted by all 44 central universities, 12 state universities, 11 deemed universities and 23 private universities is in most important stage now. NTA or National Testing Agency having wrapped up the six phases from July 15 to August 30 is expected to declare results around September 15. Equipercentile model of ranking in CUET scores is likely the formula for preparing cut-offs.
Around 14,90,000 students have applied for the exam, which would turn to be a record after NEET. NTA allocated 489 exam centres across 259 cities in India and nine cities outside India.  While universities are setting up admission portals, Delhi University, the largest central university, which is to admit 70,000 students in its 67 affiliated colleges, is going to be the most followed university for admissions. Reportedly 6.14 lakh students have opted for DU. The university has meanwhile started the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS). This system will guide students of merit list in a three phase process. Interestingly the class XII marks will have a role in case of tie and the one who has more will get ahead in such cases.
As per Delhi High Court order St Stephen’s College will also follow CUET process for general category though it has been permitted interviews for minority category admissions.
It looks the new academic session in these universities will begin only from November 1 after the admission rounds and other formalities get completed in the month of October.
