Automotive Skills Development Council (ASDC) has announced that it has partnered with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), for the inaugural National Automobile Olympiad (NAO) 2024. This national event marks a significant step towards involving school students in the vibrant world of automobiles, highlighting the industry’s advancements and career opportunities.

Designed to engage students from classes 6 through 12 across all educational boards, the NAO 2024 is set to cultivate enthusiasm and deepen awareness among the youth about the burgeoning automobile sector in India. With registrations already surpassing 850 schools, the Olympiad promises to be a landmark event, open to all students regardless of age, and conducted in both English and Hindi to ensure widespread accessibility and inclusivity.

The registration for the NAO 2024 is open until the 31st of July 2024, inviting a broad spectrum of young enthusiasts to delve into the mechanics and innovations driving the automotive world. This educational initiative is expected to draw significant participation, given the growing interest in automotive technology and its implications for the future.

The Olympiad is structured to provide a comprehensive exposure to various facets of the automobile industry. Participants will have the unique opportunity to engage with experts, gain insights into automotive careers, and develop essential skills relevant to the industry.

FR Singhvi, President of ASDC, commented on the launch, stating, “Automobile industry is considered to be the mother of manufacturing. With ongoing innovation and diversification, we are witnessing a shift from a focus on automobiles to a broader emphasis on the mobility sector. The National Automobile Olympiad is more than just a competition; it is a gateway for the children to understand and appreciate the dynamism and technological evolution of the mobility sector. The mobility sector demands such a diverse range of skills that students from any field can enter and thrive in it. Through this initiative, we aim not only to educate but also to ignite passion among students, potentially guiding them towards promising careers in this crucial sector of our economy.”

Dr. Biswajit Saha, Director (Skill Education) at CBSE, added, “The collaboration between CBSE and ASDC for the National Automobile Olympiad 2024 is a testament to our shared vision of integrating industry-relevant skills into the educational framework. This event offers a unique platform for students to explore and engage with the automotive sector, providing them with a comprehensive understanding of the opportunities and innovations that define this field. We are excited to see the enthusiasm and talent that the Olympiad will undoubtedly reveal.”

According to Vinkesh Gulati, Vice President, ASDC, ASDC wants to inspire students to think automotive as a major field. Under the NEP, students will be having multiple fields to choose from and it hopes to introduce Automotive as future career to these children.
