IIIT-Delhi’s annual RIISE 2024 themed ‘Build for India’ on Mar 15-16

Open to public, the showcase will be about cutting-edge technologies and research prospects in various spheres from robotics to AI and Healthcare

Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology Delhi (IIIT-Delhi) is scheduled to host its flagship event, the Research Innovation and Incubation Showcase (RIISE) 2024, on March 15th-16th, 2024. The event, hosted at the IIIT-Delhi campus, is open to the public and caters to students, researchers, academicians, and industry professionals keen on exploring the latest trends and opportunities. Registration, available through the [rs.iiitd.ac.in], is free of charge.

The theme of this year’s event, “Build for India.” From addressing healthcare disparities to bridging digital divides, “Build for India” is about envisioning and implementing impactful solutions that are rooted in local needs and context. It celebrates the heroes who tirelessly work to shape a brighter tomorrow, empowering grassroots initiatives, fostering collaborative ecosystems, and paving the way for a more inclusive and prosperous India. It represents a vision for a nation fueled by homegrown solutions, addressing pressing challenges with ingenuity and practicality.

On expected lines, the event will convene luminaries from academia, industry, and government, fostering a collaborative platform aimed at translating academic brilliance into tangible impact and serves as a rallying call for innovators, entrepreneurs, and changemakers dedicated to advancing homegrown solutions. Dr. Jaswinder Chadha, President & CEO @ Axtria, will join as a chief guest and Anku Jain, Managing Director, MediaTek India, will present a keynote address.

RIISE will highlight some really fascinating work that the students and faculty are doing, some of which carries the potential to bring a change in society. The poster presentations will highlight recent scientific research, developments in technology, and upcoming prospects. Attendees will get the opportunity to network with colleagues and specialists, share ideas, and consider possible joint ventures in RIISE,” says Prof. Pankaj Vajpayee, Dean of Corporate Relations and Entrepreneurship.

Sketch Theory: Unlock the power of visualization and animation to educate theoretical concepts in a captivating experience.

Healthtech Innovations: Showcase your healthcare prototypes and ideas for incubation, funding, and guidance for accelerated growth.

ForkIt: Dive into the power of visualization and animation to educate theoretical concepts in a captivating experience.

Epoch: Participate in a 24-hour overnight hackathon focused on building solutions for research problems in Open Source. Compete to win cash prizes and internships.

OncoSlice: Join in the development of advanced AI-ML diagnostic tools focusing on Multiple Myeloma, addressing plasma cell segmentation challenges through image processing.

 

The showcase will also delve into engaging talks and panel discussions covering a wide array of cutting-edge and critical topics such as:

Robotics and Space Technology at the Research Innovation and Incubation Showcase (RIISE) 2024 will spotlight the advancements in automating crucial tasks and propelling space exploration. Renowned speakers such as Prof. Puneet Singla from Penn State University and Prof. S K Saha from IIT Delhi, alongside panelists including Mr. Tushar Jadhav from Manastu Space, Dr. Rajesh Kumar from Addverb, Prof. Soumya Ranjan from IIT Kanpur, and Mr. Rajiva Ranjan from the Indian Air Force, will share insights into the latest developments in this frontier. This session aims to illuminate the transformative potential of robotics and its impact on space exploration endeavors.

Perspectives on Time, History & Modernity, where luminaries will delve into the intricate interplay of lived experiences, clock time, and historical narratives influencing the contemporary world. Esteemed speakers including Prof. Kanchana Mahadevan from the University of Bombay and Prof. Babu Thaliath from J.N.U. will share insights, alongside Dr. Arun Iyer from IIT Bombay, Dr. Huzaifa Siddiqui from Ashoka University, and Prof. Ananya Vajpeyi from the Center for the Study of Developing Societies, Delhi. Joining them are Dr. Meghant Sudan from Boise State University (presenting online), Prof. Saulius Genuisas from The Chinese University of Hong Kong (also presenting online), and Prof. Nirmala Narayan Chakraborty from Rabindra INDIAi University, Kolkata. Dr. R. Krishnaswamy from Jindal Global University will co-organize the session alongside Dr. Nishad Patnaik from IIITD. Bharat AI will take center stage at the Research Innovation and Incubation Showcase (RIISE) 2024, highlighting the significance of indigenous AI solutions in shaping India’s future. Esteemed speakers including Mr. Soma Dhaval from Wadhwani AI, Mr. Nilay Shrivastava from Adobe Research, Mr. Mihir Kulkarni from Wadhwani AI, Dr. Ankur Arora from Mastercard, Dr. Manish Gupta and Mr. Shashi Jajware from Microsoft, Mr. Sumit Bhatia from Adobe Inc, and Prof. Avinash Kumar Agarwal from IIT Kanpur will delve into the potential of homegrown AI solutions. Mr. Ishan Goel, Associate Director of Data Science at VWO, known for his authoritative contributions in the field, will also share insights.

Unleashing the power of 5G/6G will be a pivotal focus at the Research Innovation and Incubation Showcase (RIISE) 2024, emphasizing its role in powering India’s digital transformation through enhanced web connectivity. Distinguished speakers including Mr. Manoj Dwivedi from BEL, Mr. Anindya Saha from Tejas Networks, and Ms. Laxmi Mukund from CISCO, alongside esteemed panelists such as Mr. Sudipta Bhaumik from STL, Mr. Rakesh Kapoor from TSDSI, Mr. Rakesh Desai from TEC Government of India, and Mr. G. Majhi from CDoT, will delve into the transformative potential of 5G/6G technology. Healthcare will be a key focus area at the Research Innovation and Incubation Showcase (RIISE) 2024, highlighting the imperative of leveraging technology and tools to build accessible and affordable healthcare solutions for all. Esteemed speakers including Mr. Dileep Mangsuli, Executive Director at Siemens Healthineers, Dr. Ramesh Venkatesan, Senior Director at Wipro GE Healthcare, Dr. Rupesh Chaturvedi, Professor at JNU, Dr. Neetu Singh, Assistant Professor at the Center for Biomedical Engineering, IIT Delhi, and Dr. Kshitij Jadhav, Assistant Professor at Koita Centre for Digital Health, IIT Bombay, will share their insights and expertise in this domain. Computational Gastronomy, and Design for India will be two engaging sessions at the Research Innovation and Incubation Showcase (RIISE) 2024, delving into the intersections of food, technology, culture, and human-centered solutions tailored for India’s unique challenges.

In the session on Computational Gastronomy, Mr. Manu Bajaj, Founder and MD of NuTaste Group, will provide insights into leveraging technology to explore new dimensions in food science and gastronomy.

Simultaneously, Prof. Pradeep Yammiyavar from the Design Group at the Department of MMAE, IIT Dharwad, will share perspectives on Design for India, focusing on developing human-centered solutions that address the diverse and specific needs of the Indian context.

Sustainable Mobility will take center stage at the Research Innovation and Incubation Showcase (RIISE) 2024, highlighting the importance of building green, accessible, and inclusive mobility solutions for the future. Among the distinguished speakers, IAS Shahzad Alam, Special Commissioner of Transport from the Delhi Government, will share insights into government initiatives and policies aimed at fostering sustainable transportation systems. This session aims to catalyze discussions and collaborations towards creating environmentally friendly and equitable mobility solutions to address the evolving needs of urban environments.
