NDMC Navyug School Peshwa Road (NSPR), New Delhi,  set up in 1981 and part of 11 Navyug schools (within New Delhi Parliamentary constituency governed by the NDMC) on January 7 conducted its first-ever reunion meeting at the school lawns in 41 years of its existence. Organised by the NSPR Alumni Group, over 200 alumni members physically participated in the reunion, and close to 50 alumni members joined online from different states and overseas. The alumni group was formed in October 2022. Activities during the event included an alumni speech, felicitation of teachers, open expressions down memory lane, and an online alumni singing performance from the US, which left everyone swinging and exuding joy.

A spokesperson of the NSPR Alumni Group, said: “The reunion ceremony was the first step towards bringing back the alumni. The framework of the group with a president, secretary, treasurer, and members along with other important positions will be formed in the next two-three months. We connected more than 400 in just three months. We aim to take this alumni number to 2000 while connecting with the other seven NDMC Navyug Senior Secondary Schools in the next 3-4 years.”

NSPR Alumni Group aims to go beyond fun and food meets, and networking events. It will focus on giving back to the alma mater with initiatives that support the talented, unprivileged, and needy students for a better future and towards the development of the Nation. The mission is: ‘No student should pass out anxious, without any career counselling and basic life skills.’

“We will be supporting students in career counselling. Besides, regular workshops on basic life skills will be organised from the 2023-2024 academic session. We also have plans to take care of the remuneration of one or two guest teachers”, said the spokesperson of the NSPR Alumni Group.

Satish Upadhyay, NDMC Vice Chairman, was the Chief Guest for the event and in his address he urged upon the alumni to not only simply stay in touch with the school but also to contribute towards its improvement and upliftment.

Other dignitaries present on the occasion included Raj Bala, ex- and first principal (served until 2008), NSPR, R P Satti, Education Director, NDMC, and Rakesh Kumar Tyagi, principal, NSPR. When the ex-principal was felicitated on the stage, the echo of incessant Alumni applause reflected their love, admiration, and respect for her.

Started by Navyug School Education Society under NDMC, there are eight higher secondary Navyug Schools including NSPR, and three primary schools in the Capital. The society and schools were set up to cater to the quality education need of bright and talented children especially those belonging to economically weaker sections. These schools received a lot of acclamation owing to quality education, good care of students, and meritorious performance of the children passing out of them.
