One World International School (OWIS) – Sarjapur in Bangalore has raised around 4,57,592 rupees under its Coins for a Cause, a long-time social initiative that believes in giving back to the society under Civic Social Responsibility programme. The fund-raising activity, which has been continuing for more than 10 years, aims to instill the value of charity and social responsibility among students towards the society.

The ‘Coins for a Cause’ initiative gives every student an earthen pot at the beginning of the year, which is used by them to collect coins through chores, charity drives and earning money by helping friends and family to support NGOs. In the month of February every year, the collected coins are brought to school and pooled together with amounts collected by teachers and staff, and donated to different foundations.

OWIS Sarjapur has donated this year’s collection amount to Mathru Foundation, Diya Ghar Trust, Cheshire Homes and Sri Vidya Vikasa Kendra-Thayimane charities which work towards educating and feeding children.

Speaking on the occasion,  Ashish Tibdewal, Country Director-India, Global Schools Foundation, shared “It fills me with immense pride to witness the remarkable success of our Coins for a Cause initiative. OWIS firmly believes in the importance of giving back to society and making a positive global impact. I extend my heartfelt appreciation to the students, staff, and parents for their unmatched dedication and support towards this noble cause. Their commitment truly exemplifies the compassionate and empathetic spirit of our community. Moving forward, I am excited about the prospect of organizing similar activities that provides our students with outstanding learning experiences. Together, we will continue to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others and contribute towards a bright future for all.”

OWIS Sarjapur Bangalore has contributed 2,00,000 rupees to the Mathru Foundation, 100,000 rupees to the Diya Ghar Trust, 55,907 to Sri Vidya Vikasa Kendra – Thayimane and 1,01,685 to Cheshire Homes. The Mathru Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering and uplifting underprivileged children with special needs. Meanwhile, the Diya Ghar Trust focuses on educating and feeding children aged 2-6 from migrant laborer families. Additionally, Sri Vidya Vikasa Kendra – Thayimane and Cheshire Homes provide shelter to orphans and physically and mentally challenged children aged 3-18.
