Somaiya Vidyavihar celebrates 25 Years of Sportsmanship with the TOSS Cricket Tournament

Celebrating the 25th edition of the TOSS Cricket Tournament with 28 teams and 420 players from various Somaiya campuses —including those in Mumbai, Sakarwadi, Laxmiwadi, Kopargaon, Sameerwadi-Mudhol (Karnataka), and Nareshwadi-Dahanu at the state-of-the-art Somaiya Cricket Ground, Somaiya Vidyavihar, Mumbai, described it as a landmark event promoting fitness, unity, and sportsmanship among its staff. The silver jubilee edition of the TOSS Cricket Tournament was an unforgettable celebration of sportsmanship and unity within the Somaiya community.

Taking place from December 16-18, 2024,  the silver jubilee celebration was attended by Shri Samir Somaiya, President of Somaiya Vidyavihar, Dr Sangeeta Srivastava, Executive Director, Godavari Biorefineries Ltd., Dr. Manisha Bobade, CEO, K J Somaiya Hospital & Research Center, Mr Sovan Basu, Director, SVV, Dr Suresh Ukarande, Director KJSSE, Dr Neetin Desai, Dean, Faculty of Science and other dignitaries of Somaiya group. “Congratulations to all, it’s unbelievable that it has been 25 years since the start of the tournament, started from a Somaiya ground at Vidyavihar to coming here and seeing this magnificent ground, which has ranked as one of the best grounds in the city is indeed a pleasure,” said Shri Samir Somaiya, President of Somaiya Vidyavihar.

This year’s competition was a thrilling mix of matches, continuing the tradition of breaking down barriers and fostering strong bonds among colleagues.The 3-day event concluded with Godavari Biorefineries Ltd., Sakarwadi, emerging as the champions of the 25th TOSS Cricket Tournament.Yogesh Bhojage from Godavari Biorefineries Ltd. was awarded the title of Man of the Match, while Team RIIDL took home the Best Sportsmanship award.
