Twenty young achievers in six categories: Bravery, Social Service, Environment, Sports, Art & Culture, and Science & Technology, have been awarded the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar (PMRBP), this year. The President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu, conferred the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar on these children at a ceremony held in New Delhi on December 26, the Veer Baal Diwas. The President congratulated the recipients of the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar. She said that the award-winning children have brought pride to their families, their communities, and the entire country. She expressed confidence that these awards will inspire all children across the country. She stated that this award has been presented to them for their encouragement. Vyoma Priya (Posthumous), aged 9, Coimbatore, TN

Gave up his life in a brave and instinctive attempt to rescue another child from drowning.

Veer Baal Diwas celebrated
Veer Baal Diwas, marked on December 26 every year in remembrance of the martyrdom of Sahibzada Zorawar Singh ji and Sahibzada Fateh Singh ji –the two youngest sons of the 10th Sikh Guru, Guru Gobind Singh Ji, who were bricked alive and martyred at Sirhind (present-day Fatehgarh Sahib, Punjab) on December 26, 1704 for refusing to abandon their faith under coercion. Veer Bal Diwas represents a significant national initiative to institutionalise the remembrance of the Sahibzadas’ martyrdom and to highlight stories of bravery, resilience, and selfless service, inspiring children and youth. The national event is held in Delhi to celebrate awardees.
