Automotive Skill Development Council (ASDC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Steinbeis University, Germany, to introduce a 1+1 Master’s Program aimed at providing students with global exposure, industry-relevant education, and enhanced career opportunities, including job prospects post-graduation before returning to India. The signing ceremony took place in New Delhi recently in the presence of ASDC Chairman, ASDC CEO, and delegates from Steinbeis University.

The 1+1 Master’s Program will offer students a unique opportunity to pursue one year of study at a partnering Indian university, followed by a second year at Steinbeis University in Germany, leading to a dual-degree certification. Beyond academic excellence, the program is designed to facilitate job placements in Germany post-graduation, enabling students to gain international work experience before bringing their expertise back to India. This collaboration redefines higher education in the automotive sector by equipping students with internationally recognized credentials, hands-on industry training, and exposure to cutting-edge global automotive technologies.

Speaking at the MoU signing ceremony, F R Singhvi, President, ASDC, highlighted the significance of this initiative, stating that, “The automotive industry is undergoing rapid transformation with advancements in technology and increasing global integrations. This partnership with Steinbeis University will provide Indian students with an unparalleled opportunity to gain international insights, engage in cutting-edge research, and strengthen their industry connections. We, at ASDC, are committed to fostering international collaborations that prepare students for the evolving mobility ecosystem and equip them with the skills needed for the future of the automotive industry.”

The initiative has already secured participation from some of India’s leading institutions, including Sri Eshwar College of Engineering Coimbatore, Sathyabama University, Chennai, and Karpagam Academy of Higher Education, Coimbatore. By joining this program, these universities will strengthen their global academic reputation, attract high-quality students seeking dual-degree opportunities, and gain access to Steinbeis University’s extensive industry network. The collaboration will also facilitate faculty development through specialized Trainer-of-Trainers (ToT) programs, which will enhance the universities’ teaching capacity and research output.

Dr. Prof. Bertram Lohmüller, Director, SUTM Steinbeis School for Sustainable Technology & Management GmbH, expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating, “This partnership between Steinbeis University and ASDC represents a significant step towards creating a globally competitive workforce in the automotive sector. The 1+1 Master’s Program is designed to provide students with not only academic excellence but also industry exposure that aligns with the evolving needs of the mobility sector. By integrating applied research, innovation, and hands-on learning, we aim to equip students with the skills necessary to thrive in an international environment. We look forward to strengthening this collaboration and fostering new opportunities for academic and industry partnerships.”

Mr. Raj Vangapandu, President of the German Varsity for Advanced Studies, Germany, and Indo Euro Synchronization, emphasized the transformative potential of this initiative, stating, “The 1+1 Master’s Program is a game-changer for students looking to gain global expertise in automotive technology. This partnership will enable students to experience world-class education in Germany while fostering a strong bridge between Indian and European academic ecosystems. By integrating cutting-edge research and industry collaborations, this initiative will significantly enhance the global employability of Indian students.”
