Bharti Airtel Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Bharti Enterprises, announced that TheTeacherApp, its free-for-life digital platform, has reached nearly 3 lakh users across the country. The Bharti Airtel Foundation has partnered with governments of Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Jammu & Kashmir, and Uttarakhand to support state-led Continuous Professional Development (CPD) programmes for teachers and is currently engaging with additional states on similar collaborations.

Drawing on its long-standing work in strengthening school education and supporting teachers across India, Bharti Airtel Foundation conceptualised TheTeacherApp as a platform for continuous professional development aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Launched in November 2024, the app brings together professional learning resources, classroom-focused tools and a collaborative community, empowering educators to adapt to evolving classroom needs and elevate learning outcomes for millions of students across India.

Today, the app is driving teacher development across 36 states and Union Territories through a growing ecosystem of government and institutional partnerships. Designed with direct input from teachers, it offers over 4,000 hours of learning content and 45+ AI-powered teaching tools, helping educators strengthen classroom practice and respond to evolving needs.

In collaboration with NITI Aayog, the Foundation is strengthening teacher development in Aspirational Districts, with a focus on foundational literacy, digital readiness, and classroom management. At the state level, TheTeacherApp is supporting SCERT-led Continuous Professional Development in Jammu & Kashmir, expanding teacher professional development in Uttar Pradesh, powering AI-enabled professional learning in Telangana, and building capacity in action research with RSCERT and DIETs in Rajasthan. Similar work is underway in Uttarakhand and Nagaland, alongside a collaboration with the Indian Army’s Northern Command to support educators in Army Goodwill Schools across J&K.

Aligned with NEP 2020’s mandate of 50 hours of Continuous Professional Development for every teacher, TheTeacherApp lets educators build these hours flexibly through short courses, webinars and podcasts without stepping away from the classroom. Teachers can also shape their own learning path, choosing content based on their interests and needs, making professional development more personalised and part of everyday teaching life.

TheTeacherApp brings together a growing coalition of institutions including Pratham, Khan Academy, Katha, LetState, Educational Initiatives (EI), CK-12 Foundation, Simple Education Foundation, Pallavan, Sarvam AI, Good School Alliance, and Central Square Foundation, who are coming together to jointly advance the mission of empowering teachers and strengthening the foundations of quality education for all. This integration reflects the platform’s focus on making emerging technology useful and accessible in teachers’ day-to-day work.

Rakesh Bharti Mittal, Co-Chairman of Bharti Airtel Foundation and Vice Chairman of Bharti Enterprises, said, “India’s growth story will be written in its classrooms, and teachers are at the heart of that transformation. Our experience of working closely with educators and schools for over 25 years has shown that meaningful teacher development requires access to quality learning, practical resources, technology, and strong institutional partnerships. TheTeacherApp is built on this belief, bringing together learning, collaboration and digital tools through partnerships with governments, education institutions and knowledge partners. On this Teachers’ Day, we celebrate the educators who shape not just students, but the future of our nation, and we reaffirm our commitment to equipping them with the knowledge, resources and confidence to transform every classroom they walk into.”
