Continuing his outreach during Covid-19 lockdown and school/HEI closures, union HRD minister, Ramesh Pokhriyal, will be talking on issues of teachers in a webinar session on May 14 at 12 noon.  Interested people can send queries or concerns using #EducationMinisterGoesLive.

According to experts, teachers, who in this situation, are also deployed in assisting in pandemic containment and running food centres in various affected cities, may have a lot of issues to discuss, but it is appears more of a PR exercise as the minister could have been better advised to convene a meeting of state education ministers and build an environment of trust and confidence. “Teachers themselves won’t be able to raise problems that they would actually want and in these kind of stage-managed shows, anyway all problematic or embarrassing questions get knocked out at the screening itself, nonetheless, we should all look forward positively to what transpires at the webinar. After all teachers will have a big role in rebuilding the new order that this crisis has broken,” said one expert on condition of anonymity.
