The recently formed Coaching Federation of India (CFI) will be the first industry governing body aimed at protecting and furthering the interests of classroom coaching industry which is projected to touch USD 500 million in next couple of years. “CFI has been formed to safeguard the interests of all the stakeholders primarily students, parents, teaching and education management professionals,” noted a statement of the new body. CFI comprises of members from the leading coaching institutions across the country like Bansal Classes, ALLEN, Vidyamandir Classes, etc. who have joined hands to represent this supportive industry critical for the success of a student
Speaking on the formation of CFI, Vaibhav Tiwari, CFI President said, “Coaching is a pivot around which the education system revolves. It assumes the form of a shadow especially for deserving strata of our student community enabling them to achieve their career goals. Their importance, thus, can’t be understated. With the coming together and the formation of CFI, we are hopeful that the incumbent government will acknowledge our industry and bring out favourable reforms to strengthen the coaching industry.”
For the coaching professionals, CFI will play a multi-layered role: one that includes resolving problems through inter-disciplinary structure, providing health and life insurance benefit for financial security of CFI members and their family, regular interface with the government authorities for sundry issues such as relaxation in electricity bills and coaching rents during lockdown period, and a representation for reduction in GST, among others.
Saurabh Kumar, Vice- President, CFI further added, “CFI is coming together of common issues and interests of the coaching industry and it is a great initiative which will represent a largely unrecognized sector of India. Although we have observed that the coaching industry grew, but we fell abysmally short when it came to the holistic growth of our teachers. CFI will do its best to bring in positive changes, address grievances affecting the tutorial system and enable improvement in the coaching industry.”
The coaching industry is currently seeing a huge downturn due to Covid-19. Commenting on this, Alok Dixit, General Secretary, CFI said, “CFI has come in form at a very crucial time as our industry is going through huge losses. We are hopeful that things will be better as we come together and find a way to work through this crisis.” Mr. Satendra Katiyar, Vice-President, CFI affirmed his views while adding, “CFI will have a huge role to play towards the ongoing woes attributed to the pandemic.”
