Start-up Incubation and Innovation Centre (SIIC) of IIT Kanpur, one of the oldest technology business incubators with many successes under its belt, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Department of Training and Employment, Uttar Pradesh to train principals of Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) across Uttar Pradesh on new-age innovation technologies. The program aims at fostering capacity building amongit is to complement their exceptional academic knowhow with a contemporary skillset.
Under this a week-long workshop program was launched on 21st June 2021 through which SIIC, IIT Kanpur aimed at principals from ITIs and other senior officials of Department of Training and Employment from Uttar Pradesh. These sessions will provide pragmatic inputs on new-age technology-led innovations. The participants will be exposed to the Volatile, Uncertain, Complex and Ambiguous (VUCA) world which now experiences amplified dynamism in the post-COVID era. The workshop sessions will be conducted by subject experts, including IIT professors who would directly train the ITI principals.
Kapil Dev Aggarwal, Minister of State (Independent Charge), Skill Development and Vocational Education, UP said, “We believe that this interdisciplinary program would lead to confidence building of ITI staff which will further strengthen the educational outcomes of students in these institutions.”
The direct outcome of the workshop will be skill enhancement of the ITIs which would further increase the employability of students at ITIs as well as enhance knowledge sharing and collaboration between ITIs and IIT Kanpur, an amalgamation of research and technical skills which would improve the innovation outcomes for all the stakeholders involved.
