The Aditya Birla Education Trust (ABET), one of India’s leading nonprofit well-known for championing social causes and more recently for addressing mental health advocacy through its Mpower initiative, has been included as a core member of the Impact Action Council – a strategic collective of leading organisations and philanthropists under the Philanthropy Asia Alliance (PAA).

ABET joins other distinguished global leaders such as the Gates Foundation, UBS, Wellcome Trust, and Rockefeller Foundation in shaping a better, more sustainable future as it becomes part of a select group of 27 global organizations committed to making a significant social impact.

The Philanthropy Asia Alliance (PAA) is a collaborative platform that brings together over 80 mission-driven organizations from across the globe. The platform focuses on fostering scalable solutions that address key global challenges particularly in the areas of people, planet, peace, and progress. PAA works to advance the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by promoting high-impact partnerships, encouraging innovation, and facilitating knowledge sharing among organizations.

As a core member of the Impact Action Council, Aditya Birla Education Trust will play a strategic role in contributing to this global initiative. The membership provides ABET with an opportunity to collaborate with a wide range of esteemed partners and further amplify its ongoing work in critical areas such as mental health, period poverty, and education.

Commenting on the milestone, Mrs. Neerja Birla, Chairperson of Aditya Birla Education Trust, said, “We are truly honored to be part of the Impact Action Council. This recognition not only underscores the importance of the work we do at ABET but also strengthens our resolve to tackle challenges like mental health, period poverty, and quality education. These issues are deeply interconnected and central to human dignity. Through this platform, we look forward to collaborating with global leaders, learning from their experiences, and co-creating solutions that can drive positive, transformative change on a global scale.”

ABET has a long history of  well-known for championing social causes and more recently for addressing mental health advocacy through its Mpower initiative, with a focus on breaking barriers and addressing stigmas. Through its Mpower initiative, ABET has been a leader in mental health advocacy, raising awareness, providing counselling, and offering support services to 180 millions of people across India since 2016.

Mrs. Neerja Birla, Chairperson of Aditya Birla Education Trust, shared key insights on the intersection of mental health, education, and gender equity, drawing from ABET’s grassroots initiatives and policy-level advocacy while participating in a high-level panel discussion at the PAA Summit recently alongside Smt. Smriti Irani, former Minister of Women and Child Development and Belinda Tanoto of the Tanoto Foundation.
