Satyam Mehta (16), a student of class 12th from Amity International School, Noida has been given coveted Diana Award by the charity of the same name (Established in memory of Diana, Princess of Wales) for his positive social change initiatives and humanitarian efforts in empowering rural investment, sustainable management of E-waste, and promoting better menstrual health and hygiene management among females of different age groups across all sections of society.

He was selected for this award through a rigorous nomination process that saw participation from students from many countries. These nominators had to demonstrate the nominee’s impact in five key areas: Vision, Social Impact, Inspiring Others, Youth Leadership, and Service Journey, and Satyam stood with flying colors across all the five areas of measurement.

Satyam Mehta after receiving the award said, “I strongly feel that life is not worth living if one does not live for others and this has been my motivating mantra for all that I have done or that I wish to do for the communities and people around me. My family, friends, and especially my school chairperson Mrs. Amita Chauhan & principal, Ms. Renu Singh ma’am have provided stupendous support in all my work. I owe my success to all of them.“

Satyam is the proud co-founder of ‘Rural Invest’, an initiative to solve one of the vital problems faced by Indian farmers: the lack of financial literacy. The app ‘Rural Invest’ (www.ruralinvest.in) leverages the power of finance to empower and enable users to invest money through SIPs in various asset classes strategically.

This young entrepreneur is relentlessly working towards making society an empathetic place to live by solving the massive concerns of electronic waste. Satyam has co-founded ‘JunkGuards’, an initiative for the proper management of E-Waste (www.junkguards.com). The initiative has collected more than 700 kgs of e-waste and utilized it towards sustainable reuse.

Satyam has been an advocate of inclusive growth. Technology rests at the heart of every initiative or disruptive idea that Satyam contemplates. Pravahkriti (www.pravahriti.com), another social venture led by Satyam, promotes better menstrual health and hygiene management among females. This forward-looking mindset also permeates his menstrual health advocacy, engaging women and men and driving the next evolution in period positivity.
