ApplyBoard announces 2023 International Alumni of Impact winners from India

ApplyBoard, an international student recruitment has announced winners of its inaugural International Alumni of Impact program. Launched in 2023, the International Alumni of Impact program celebrates the remarkable achievements and contributions of former international students who have graduated from Canadian higher education institutions and have made a significant positive impact in their communities, fields, and across the world.

Among the 10 former international students from across the world recognized for outstanding accomplishments includes three winners from India– Chetanya Sharma, from Ambala, Gurpreet Singh Broca from Jalandhar, and Ramneet Brar from Chandigarh. All studied in Canada and have not only excelled academically but have also leveraged their education and experiences to create a meaningful difference around the world.

In recognition of the winners’ exceptional contributions, ApplyBoard will establish one-time scholarships in each of their names, which will be awarded to deserving incoming international students. These scholarships aim to support the next generation of international leaders and provide them with the opportunity to pursue their dreams and positively impact their communities.

The 2023 International Alumni of Impact winners from India brief profiles:

Chetanya Sharma from Ambala, India studied at University of Ottawa in Ontario, Canada. Chetanya currently works as a Human Resources Admin Officer for the Government of Canada within the esteemed Department of National Defence. Drawing inspiration from his own experiences and motivated by a deep desire to make a difference, he established ‘My Personal Mentor,’ an innovative online resource that has become a beacon of hope for immigrants seeking enhanced employment prospects in North America. Through this platform, Chetanya has positively impacted the lives of hundreds of international students and immigrants, providing them with invaluable guidance and assistance in securing high-quality job opportunities.

Gurpreet Singh Broca from Jalandhar, India, graduated in 2018 with a diploma in Civil Engineering Technology from Cambrian College in Ontario, Canada. Gurpreet’s unwavering dedication has made a significant difference in the lives of those around him through his volunteer work, and career with a major Canadian bank. After graduating, he established the Sarbat Da Bhala Bursary, an annual scholarship at Cambrian for second-year international students, embodying the spirit of “prosperity for all.” Handpicking recipients, Gurpreet personally meets with them to offer encouragement and support, while also identifying opportunities for community engagement that can lead to future employment prospects.

Ramneet Brar from Chandigarh, India, studied at George Brown College in Toronto, Canada, graduating in 2017 from the Business Administration Accounting program. After graduation, Ramneet spent many years working in accounting for one of Canada’s largest firms. Driven by her own experiences and fueled by a desire to create meaningful change, Ramneet later co-founded Isempower, an organization dedicated to empowering international students and assisting them in securing employment opportunities. As the COO, she has played a pivotal role in developing Isempower into a prominent job search platform specifically tailored for international students. Ramneet’s startup has empowered countless students to build successful careers in Canada.
