The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released the date sheets for the Class X and Class XII Board Examinations 2027, scheduled to commence on February 16, 2027 (Tuesday). The date sheets were issued 101 days ahead of the commencement of the examinations.

For the 2027 examinations, Class X students will appear in 83 subjects, while Class XII students will be examined in 121 subjects. More than 26.5 lakh students in Class X and over 19.8 lakh students in Class XII have registered for the Board examinations.

The date sheets are available for viewing and download on the CBSE’s official website: Download Date Sheet (PDF).

According to the Board, more than 40,000 subject combinations were taken into consideration while preparing the schedules to ensure that no two examinations of subjects opted for by an individual student clash on the same date. All examinations will commence at 10:30 a.m. (IST).

However, while the Board has sought to eliminate clashes between subject combinations, the schedule has drawn criticism from students over the short intervals between certain papers, leaving them with limited time for preparation and revision, particularly for important subjects.

One such concern raised on social media relates to the Class X timetable, which reportedly provides only a one-day gap between English (February 21), regional languages (February 23) and Science (February 25). Students have argued that these are key subjects requiring adequate preparation time.

Another concern relates to the scheduling of Science on February 25, followed by Food Production on February 26. A student pointed out that more than 50 per cent of the students in their school had opted for Food Production as a fifth subject in Class X and requested the Board to reconsider the dates.

Other students have questioned the allocation of preparation days, pointing out that Science has only one preparatory day, compared with four days for English. They have urged CBSE to revise the schedule, arguing that Science, in particular, requires more time for revision. Several such requests and representations have surfaced, although it remains to be seen whether the Board will consider any changes to the published timetable.

Meanwhile, CBSE has attributed the early release of the date sheets to the timely submission of Lists of Candidates (LOCs) by schools.

According to the Board, releasing the schedules well in advance will offer several benefits. Students will have sufficient time to plan and organise their examination preparation, helping reduce examination-related anxiety and improve performance. Parents and teachers, too, will be able to plan their engagements and travel during the summer vacation in accordance with the examination and evaluation schedules.

The early announcement is also expected to help schools manage their academic calendars more effectively. Teachers will not have to remain away from their schools for extended periods, allowing academic activities for non-board classes to continue without disruption. Schools will also have more time to plan academic support measures for Board classes, while institutions designated as examination centres will be able to make the necessary logistical arrangements and organise their activities well in advance.
