Dignity Education Vision International DEVI Sansthan, a non-profit organisation working to transform foundational literacy and numeracy (FLN), marked its listing on the BSE Social Stock Exchange SSE with a landmark Bell Ringing Ceremony at the International Convention Hall of the Bombay Stock Exchange, P.J. Towers, Dalal Street, Mumbai on Aug 21.

The ceremony brought together leaders from the education, philanthropy, corporate social responsibility and financial sectors to celebrate a significant milestone in DEVI Sansthan’s journey towards its vision of a fully literate India.

Established in 1992 by Dr. Sunita Gandhi, a physicist with a degree from Cambridge University and a former World Bank economist, DEVI Sansthan has spent more than three decades working to improve learning outcomes and transform education systems. Its flagship ALfA Accelerated Learning for All methodology is an evidence-based approach designed to accelerate foundational learning through collaborative and innovative pedagogies. Over the years, DEVI Sansthan’s programmes have reached more than 19,000 schools and over 8 lakh children, helping address foundational learning gaps and strengthen children’s core abilities in reading, writing and mathematics.

The listing on the Social Stock Exchange marks more than a new avenue for resource mobilisation. It represents a significant step towards building greater transparency, accountability, credibility and institutional rigour in the social sector while creating stronger pathways for organisations to demonstrate measurable impact and engage with a wider community of social investors and partners.

Speaking on the occasion Dr. Sunita Gandhi said, “This listing is not simply a milestone for DEVI Sansthan; it is a powerful opportunity to accelerate our vision of a fully literate India. The Social Stock Exchange can help us take evidence-based, scalable solutions such as ALfA to many more children, schools and communities, and bring us closer to a future where every child can read, write and do mathematics with confidence. I am deeply grateful to every partner, supporter, donor, educator and institution that has believed in our vision and stood with us on this journey.”

“The Bell Ringing Ceremony marks the beginning of a new chapter one in which DEVI Sansthan seeks to leverage the credibility, visibility and partnerships enabled by the SSE to accelerate its mission of closing foundational learning gaps and helping build a fully literate India,” Nixon Joseph, Group Executive Director, DEVI Sansthani added.
