Glendale Academy, Suncity, Hyderabad, recently hosted renowned Indian music composer, singer, and mentor Shekhar Ravjiani as part of the Global Schools Group’s (GSG) Leadership Lecture Series (LLS), with students also earning selection opportunities for the prestigious Global Schools Shekhar Ravjiani School of Music (GSSRSOM). The session offered an immersive experience in music, creativity, and self-expression, bringing industry mentorship within their learning environment.
The Leadership Lecture Series (LLS) is a flagship Initiative of Global Schools Group designed to connect students with distinguished voices across fields, enabling exposure that goes beyond academic learning. The platform focuses on building perspective, confidence, and aspiration by bringing real-world journeys into the school ecosystem.
During the session, Shekhar Ravjiani engaged students with his insights on discipline, authenticity, and emotional depth in music, encouraging them to approach creative expression as a meaningful and evolving journey. The session also featured a hands-on music workshop where students explored vocal techniques, rhythm, and stage presence, followed by an interactive Q&A and a curated student showcase.
Reflecting on the experience, Shekhar Ravjiani said, “Every interaction like this reminds me how powerful curiosity and openness can be in shaping an artist’s journey. The students at Glendale brought not just talent, but a genuine willingness to learn and evolve, which is far more valuable than perfection. Music, at its core, is about honesty and connection, and when young minds begin to understand that early on, it creates the foundation for something truly meaningful and lasting.”
A key highlight of the event was the selection of promising student talents for Global Schools Sheykhar Ravjiani School of Music, a pioneering collaboration launched in 2020 between India’s leading composer Shekhar Ravjiani and the Singapore-based Global Schools Foundation. The programme offers structured training in music theory, vocal development, performance skills, and music production through a blend of virtual and in-person mentoring. Over the years, it has mentored more than 200 students across GSG’s network, nurturing a strong community of young musicians, with select learners gaining opportunities to perform on prominent platforms and even debut globally under Shekhar Ravjiani’s music label, Garudaa Music.
Also present at the session was Pavithra Chari, an accomplished classical and contemporary vocalist and sub-mentor at GSSRSOM. She enriched the workshop with her expertise in vocal technique and interpretation, offering students deeper insights into refining their practice and performance approach.
Ms. Minu Salooja, Director, Glendale Academy, said, “Creating opportunities where students can engage directly with accomplished practitioners is an essential part of how we approach learning at Glendale. Interactions like these allow students to experience the discipline and depth behind creative excellence while also building the confidence to express themselves. It was encouraging to see the level of enthusiasm and participation, with students truly embracing the learning beyond the classroom.”
