IIM Sirmaur’s first ever fest ‘Sierra 2k19’  from 18-20 January

Sierra 2K19, the first annual cultural, management and sports festival of Institute of Management, Sirmaur (Himachal Pradesh) is scheduled for 18th-20th of January, 2019. Driven by its 160 student-strong batch, this center of learning throws open its doors to students across the nation to experience the spirit of competitiveness and enjoyment with the serene backdropof the Himalayan ranges.

Backed by an eclectic list of partners, the festival is packed with a variety of competitions and activities to satisfy all students from the best B-schools and other institutions of the country.

A major highlight of the fest is the motorbike rally organized by fest partner Royal Enfield, from IIM Sirmaur to DIT, Dehradun. With the instantly recognizable heartbeat of Royal Enfield bikes, the rally will make anexplosive impact in setting the stage for the plethora of events lined up.

Day 1 is for those with a sporty streak. The students’ sports body will organize indoor events ranging from table tennis, chess and LAN gaming to power lifting and snooker. Outdoor events include cricket, football, volleyball and throwball.Pocket a ball or smash one out of the ground, the choice is yours!

Days 2 and 3 see students battling it out at case studies competitions conducted by the various student clubs of IIM Sirmaur. These include Marka-Wars (Marketing), Ophzeus (Operations) and an innovative competition Apple-o-nomics (Finance). Other events that test the mettle of students in their areas of interest are Cognizance (Consulting) and Stock Wars (Stock Analysis). Additionally, a financial literacy workshop is being organized to equip participants with this essential knowledge for the future, under the tutelage of industry experts.

From a non-academic perspective, the CSR club has organized a business plan competition while the quizzing club of IIM Sirmaur plays host to an online series of quizzes, designed to utilize every last grey cell of participants.

On the cultural front, the institute has joined hands with Hip-Hop International (HHI), India to conduct regional finals (Step It Up for solo and Moves n Grooves for groups) of the prestigious Hip-Hop International Competition. Winners of this round, go on to the national finals and thereafter get an opportunity to represent India at the global finale. Along with this, members of HHI will also be conducting a dance workshop, for those determined to impress, the next time they hit the dance floor.

Apart from these, Nukkad Natak provides an opportunity for budding dramatists to show a mirror to society with their unique, original scripts and high-impact histrionics. Raag, a solo singing competition is the chance to showcase your vocal prowess and mesmerize the audiences with mellifluous tunes and powerful renditions.

While the days are filled with professional jousts, the nights are when the campus lawns will light up and sway to tunes and performances by the best in the business. 19th January witnesses the pro-night, promising to be an enticing experience for music lovers with bands and other performers.

The extravaganza closes with Sunburn Campus, bringing internationally renowned artists to this region for the first time. This year, Candice Redding, known for her jaw-dropping remixes and perfect party playlists, headlines the event. Sierra 2K19 is sure to end with a resonating bang.

In just its first year, Sierra promises to be a fest for the ages. Fittingly, the students of this new IIM are surely up to the task of building its legacy and sustaining it for years to come.
