The International Management Institute (IMI) Kolkata has been chosen as a Mentor Institute (MI) under the prestigious Margdarshan Scheme 2023-24 initiated by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).

Under the Margdarshan Scheme, AICTE has identified IMI Kolkata as an inspiration of quality education with NBA accreditation and NIRF ranking, entrusting it with the responsibility of guiding other institutions towards similar achievements. IMI Kolkata will serve as a guiding institute for nearby institutions, termed Mentor Beneficiary Institutions (MBIs), facilitating their journey towards NBA accreditation and improved NIRF ranking.

The selected MBIs for IMI Kolkata are the Army Institute of Management Kolkata and Globsyn Business School Kolkata. Over a duration of three years, starting from the academic year 2024-25 onwards, IMI Kolkata will engage in a series of activities aimed at fostering growth and excellence within these institutions.

Activities under this mentorship programme include workshops on NBA accreditation and NIRF ranking, faculty research and development initiatives, placement and entrepreneurship development programmes, and the implementation of outcome-based learning systems, among others.

This initiative aligns seamlessly with the objectives outlined in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, where accreditation is highlighted as an essential driver for educational restructuring and enhancement.

Speaking on the occasion, Professor (Dr.) Mohua Banerjee, Director, IMI Kolkata, expressed her enthusiasm, stating, “We are honored to be selected as a Mentor Institute under the Margdarshan Scheme. This recognition indorses our commitment to academic excellence and our dedication to fostering growth within the wider educational community. We look forward to guiding and supporting our fellow institutions on their journey towards accreditation and enhanced rankings.”

This collaboration promises mutual benefits, with IMI Kolkata contributing to societal welfare by extending support to other academic institutions, and the Mentor Beneficiary Institutions receiving expert guidance in accreditation, ranking, and overall development without incurring any costs.
