K J Somaiya Institute of Management recently hosted the CEO Conclave 2025, bringing together top industry leaders to share insights on leadership, strategy, and work-life balance. Centered around the theme ‘Meeting Deadlines Without Missing Life,’ the event addressed the growing need to balance professional success with personal well-being.

The distinguished panel featured Mr. Sanjay Guha (Founder & CEO, Acquist), Mr. Krishan Mishra (CEO, FPSB India), Mr. Ashok Kumar Gautam (MD & CEO, IIBX), and Dr. Rajan Venkatesh (CEO & MD, Laxmi Organic Industries Limited). The discussion was moderated by Mr. Arun Thukral, Former CEO of Axis Securities, Professor of Practice & Lead of Corporate Relations at K J Somaiya Institute of Management, who set the tone by highlighting the increasing debate around long working hours.

“As professionals, we all face the challenge of meeting deadlines, often pushing ourselves beyond limits to keep up with the demands of a fast-paced world. However, it is essential to recognize that well-being is not a luxury—it is a necessity. The conversation around work-life balance has never been more relevant, making now the ideal time to address its significance in shaping a sustainable and high-performing professional environment,” said Prof. Arun Thukral.

Panelists emphasized that while dedication to work is crucial, it should not come at the cost of personal well-being. A key takeaway was the role of delegation and technology in achieving balance. Effective leaders empower their teams, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently while allowing space for strategic thinking. Technology, when used wisely, serves as an enabler rather than a burden, helping professionals manage their time better.

The session concluded on a lighter note, where the panel agreed that while adequate rest is essential, coffee remains a leader’s best companion.

The CEO Conclave 2025 was an enriching experience, inspiring future business leaders to challenge conventional work norms. The event reinforced the belief that true success is not just about meeting deadlines—it’s about leading a fulfilling, balanced life.
