Speaking on the occasion Dr. Ashwath Narayan, said, “The upgrade of UVCE to autonomous status is in line with Vision 2030 for higher education and holds much promise. The new status will mean that the university will have the best quality of faculty, relevance of curriculum, collaborative research with industry that will eventually narrow the employability gap and create a workforce of world-class engineers. The University will continue to be owned by the government but will have the independence to work and function autonomously.”

The 105-year-old UVCE is a legacy institute that was recently revamped and elevated on the lines of IIT at a cost of INR 10 crore. In the next eight years by 2030, the government aims to bring back the lost glory of this renowned college and elevate it to a position of eminence.
