In the run-up to the India AI Impact Summit 2026, scheduled for February 19–20 in New Delhi under the aegis of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, a pivotal research paper has been unveiled. Titled “Principles for Ethical and Safe Agentic AI Orchestration Across Infrastructure Gradients – Safety Guidelines for Critical Sectors in India and the Global South”, the paper was released mid-December at the AI Safety Conclave hosted by Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Amritapuri campus, under the theme “Safe AI for the Global South.”

The report lays out principles and practical frameworks for the responsible deployment of AI in critical sectors including healthcare, education, finance, energy, and public services. It underscores values of safety, transparency, accountability, and human oversight, offering structured guidance for policymakers, technologists, and institutions.

University officials emphasized that the release of the white paper at Amrita marks a milestone in building robust and responsible AI ecosystems, tailored to the socio-economic and infrastructural realities of India and the Global South.

Organized by the AI Safety Research Lab of the Amrita Center for Cybersecurity Systems and Networks, the conclave drew distinguished leaders from India and abroad. Key guests included:

  • Shri Abhishek Singh, Additional Secretary, Ministry of IT & CEO, IndiaAI Mission
  • Gabriela Ramos, Assistant Director-General, UNESCO
  • Avinash Ramtohul, Minister of ICT, Mauritius
  • D. Seshagiri, Director & Scientist, NPOL–DRDO
  • Ankit Bose, Head AI, Nasscom
  • Vinay Chandran, Partner, Quantum Black, AI by McKinsey, Middle East

Senior Amrita officials including Dr. Maneesha V. Ramesh (Pro Vice-Chancellor), Dr. Krishnashree Achuthan (Dean), Dr. S. N. Jyothi (Associate Dean, Engineering), and Dr. Sivaramakrishnan R. Guruvayur (Head, AI Safety Research Lab) were also present.

Beyond the paper release, the conclave featured expert-led panel discussions on building AI ecosystems across healthcare, education, and banking, alongside in-depth deliberations on AI safety and ethics. Conducted in a hybrid format, the event attracted nearly 300 delegates, reflecting the growing global momentum for safe and responsible AI.

With the India AI Impact Summit 2026 just weeks away, the release of this white paper sets the tone for policy debates and industry commitments expected in New Delhi.
