Krea University, Andhra Pradesh in India have signed an MoU with Macquarie University, a reputed Australian university to offer a dual degree program. The partnership will follow a 2+2 model, allowing students to pursue two years of study at Krea University, followed by two years at Macquarie University, culminating in a bachelor’s degree from both institutions.

The agreement was signed at an event held at the Consulate General in Bangalore in the presence of the MS. Hilary Mcgeachy, Consul General of Australia and Mr. Vik Singh, Trade and Investment Commissioner, South Asia.  The dual degree program is set to commence in the upcoming academic year and is expected to attract students aspiring for a globally relevant and interdisciplinary education.

Under this innovative agreement reflecting the objectives of both institutions in cultivating academic excellence, innovation, and cross-cultural learning opportunities, students will commence their academic journey at Krea University in one of the following programs: Bachelor of Arts (Honours) majoring in History, Politics, and Social Studies or Bachelor of Science (Honours) majoring in Social Studies, History, and Politics. After completing two years at Krea, students will have the opportunity to transfer to Macquarie University and complete their degrees in either the Bachelor of Arts (majoring in Modern History, Politics, Sociology) or the Bachelor of Social Sciences (majoring in Climate, Environment and Society, Health, Wellbeing and Society, Work, Life and Technology).

The dual-degree program is designed to provide students with an unmatched global academic experience, equipping them with interdisciplinary knowledge, critical thinking skills, and cultural adaptability essential for addressing global challenges.

Speaking on the partnership, Professor Bruce Dowton, Vice-Chancellor and President, Macquarie University, stated, “The world today is one global village and as an academic institution, we ought to create and curate programs that make our graduates globally relevant. Our collaboration with Krea University helps us offer world-class education combining the strengths of both the institutions. As a collective, we look forward to students experiencing a well-rounded and diverse academic journey, ready for meaningful careers in an interconnected world.”

Prof. Nirmala Rao, Vice Chancellor of Krea University, added, “We are delighted to partner with Macquarie University to launch Krea’s first dual degree program. This exciting initiative presents an incredible opportunity for Krea students to engage in interdisciplinary social sciences across two dynamic learning environments, broadening their perspectives and enhancing their global competencies. We also look forward to expanding our partnership with Macquarie University, fostering collaboration in research, curriculum development, and global classrooms.”
