Dr. Ashok Kumar Mittal, the Chancellor of Lovely Professional University and a Member of Parliament in Rajya Sabha, along with his family members, recently met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and told him LPU would be ever ready to play any role that the government feels is appropriate for the execution of NEP policy.

Dr. Mittal shared his views on the importance of promoting research and innovation in higher education and strengthening the industry-academia collaboration to drive economic growth and development. He also mentioned how LPU has been contributing to the national skill development mission by imparting industry-relevant education and training to its students. Dr. Mittal further expressed his gratitude to the Prime Minister for his continued support to the education sector and also shared his appreciation for the government’s New Education Policy (NEP) initiative.

During the meeting, Dr. Mittal reminded the Prime Minister of his visit to LPU during the Indian Science Congress in 2019, where he addressed the scientific community and coined the “Jai Anusandhan” slogan. PM Modi spent a considerable amount of time with the Mittal family, discussing various topics related to education and development. He appreciated Dr. Mittal’s ideas and said that education reforms are very close to his heart. He acknowledged the importance of science and technology in driving progress and development and spoke about how the “Jai Anusandhan” slogan was added to the “Jai Kisan,” “Jai Jawan,” and “Jai Vigyan” slogans to emphasize the importance of science and technology in various sectors, including agriculture, defense, and healthcare.

Dr Mittal was accompanied by wife Rashmi Mittal and son Pratham Mittal. They presented a portrait of PM Modi, which was painted by one of the LPU students. The Prime Minister graciously also signed a book by Sh Murli Dharan Khetan, Grandfather of Dr Mittal’s son-in-law Sreshta Khetan.
