Lycée Français International de Delhi organizes poster competition on SDGs

Lycée Français International de Delhi, the French International School of Delhi recently organized a Poster making competition for the secondary school classes to bring awareness on global issues through the means of fine arts. Students from classes 6th to 9th participated in the poster making competition.

The theme of the competition was based on the 17 millennium development goals set by the United Nations for Sustainable Development. The key themes which were undertaken from the sustainable development goals set by UN were – Life Below Water (Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development),  Climate Action (Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts), Zero Hunger (End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture), No Poverty (End poverty in all its forms everywhere) and Peace, Justice & strong Institutions (Promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels).

Students made posters as a group project (per class) as well as individual posters with short research. The winners of the competition were – Best team project – Grade 6, Best Concept and artistic message on global issues – Grade 9, Best artistic techniques – Grade 8.

Best individual artwork winners were – Grade 6 – Norah Paumier, Grade 7 – Rotsy Andriamihantanirina, Grade 8 – Sonali Rewal and Grade 9 – Ange Marie Bado.

Commenting on the competition,  Nicolas Sieger, Headmaster of Lycée Français International de Delhi said, “Creating awareness amongst the students on sustainability is the need of the hour. At Lycée Français International School, we nurture students through experiential learning pedagogy. We believe it is important for students to be aware of the global issues pertaining in the world to become responsible global citizens of tomorrow. This poster making competition is an initiative in the same direction.’’
