Delhi Public School (DPS) Sector 45, Gurgaon hosted Namaste Deutschland 2026– an annual event conceptualised and designed by the Goethe Institut to celebrate the German language and culture, under the aegis of the Delhi Public School Society. The programme brought together 86 schools and over 1,500 participant students from leading institutions for a dynamic, multi-venue celebration of German language, culture and academic exchange. The event also commemorated 75 years of diplomatic relations between India and Germany.
Anchored around the theme “Reise Durch DACH” (Journey through the DACH Region), the festival transformed its campus into immersive experiential zones for the participating students, curating a rich blend of interactive exhibitions, hands-on workshops, competitions, and vibrant cultural showcases. The initiative was thoughtfully designed by DPS 45 to enhance multilingual competence, foster intercultural awareness, and equip students with the global perspective needed for the future.
The festival was formally inaugurated by Dr. Philipp Ackermann, German Ambassador to India and Bhutan, in the presence of Mr Marco Schilder, Head of Cultural Department at German Embassy, New Delhi; Ms. Devyani Jaipuria, Pro Vice Chairperson, DPS 45; Ms. Aditi Misra, Director, DPS 45; Ms. Dolly Chanana, Director, DPS Society; and Dr. Alexandra Mittler, Director, Language Programmes at Goethe-Institut. In his address, the Chief Guest highlighted the significance of stronger Indo-German relations through education and active youth participation.
DPS 45 actively promotes German language learning and cross-cultural engagement among its students to build strong language proficiency while exploring global pathways. It also focuses on capacity-building by providing both teachers and students with platforms to enhance their German language skills and participate in enriching, internationally oriented experiences.
Sharing her perspective, Ms. Devyani Jaipuria said, “Namaste Deutschland 2026 embodies our vision of holistic education, where learning goes beyond the confines of the classroom. By blending academic engagement with cultural immersion, we strive to foster curiosity, build confidence, and cultivate a deeper appreciation of global cultures, especially the DACH region. It also reflects the school’s commitment to promoting inclusivity through language learning.”
Ms. Aditi Misra added, “Namaste Deutschland reflects the school’s commitment to experiential and interdisciplinary learning. We truly appreciate the continued association each year and are honored that Goethe consistently selects DPS45 as preferred event venue. With 86 schools and over 1,500 participants taking part in this festival, the event promises to be providing a day filled with experiential learning for all the students across Delhi NCR.”
The festival concluded with a valedictory ceremony and prize distribution, celebrating student participation and excellence.
