The Canadian International School Bangalore, which boasts students and faculty from over 42 nationalities, recently hosted Multicultural Day, a vibrant celebration of the school’s rich cultural DNA.

The annual celebration, organised by the School Community Association, saw an impressive turnout of 450 attendees who immersed themselves in a day filled with dynamic performances, engaging cultural exhibits and international culinary experiences. The festivities kicked off with the Grand Country Parade where students proudly represented their heritage, followed by a lively series of performances that showcased the music, dance and traditions of various countries.

Cultural booths lined the event space, each beautifully curated with traditional attire, artifacts and interactive elements, allowing attendees to explore different customs and traditions up close. The highlight for many was the diverse selection of global cuisine, with families sharing signature dishes from their home countries, creating a true melting pot of flavors.

“At CIS, we believe that embracing diversity enriches our students’ experiences and broadens their perspectives,” said Shweta Sastri, Managing Director, Canadian International School. “Multicultural Day is a celebration of who we are as a community — open, inclusive and globally minded.”

Dr. Ted Mockrish, Head of School, echoed this sentiment, emphasising, “One of CIS’s greatest strengths is the incredible diversity within our school — this year it gives me great joy to be a part of a celebration with 42 nationalities on campus. Multicultural Day at CIS not only highlights our varied backgrounds, but also reinforces the values of respect and integrity while nurturing a joy for learning and global citizenship that we instill in our students.”
