The National Testing Agency, with the approval of the Government of India, has scheduled the re-examination of NEET (UG) 2026 on Sunday, 21 June 2026, following allegations of paper leaks and irregularities in the case of examination held on May 3 leading to its cancellation.

The new date was announced by the Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, during a press conference on May 15 in New Delhi. He said there was a “breach in the chain of command” and acknowledged the government’s responsibility in addressing the issue. Pradhan announced that NEET will be shifted to a computer-based format from next year to prevent future malpractice. He also said that strict action will be taken against all those involved, including officials linked to the National Testing Agency, and added that the matter is being thoroughly probed by the CBI. Assuring students, he said their future remains the government’s top priority and promised stronger safeguards for the re-examination process.

He said that there will be no fees for the reexamination and the duration of the exam will be increased by 15 minutes to account for signature formalities. Also, the admit cards will be issued by June 15 and just before one week NTA may allow centre change so that travel concerns of students are taken care of.
