NK Proteins Private Limited, the owner of the Tirupati brand of edible oils, through its CSR arm Karma Foundation, has announced its commitment to supporting the education of 500 girls over the next five years. The announcement comes ahead of National Girl Child Day, celebrated by the on January 24, and resonates with this year’s theme, “Empowering Girls for a Bright Future.”

Ensuring education for underprivileged girls is a key objective of Karma Foundation, which constituted the Shri Nilesh K. Patel Girl Child Scholarship in 2021. So far, 470 girls from various areas of Gujarat have already received scholarships from the Foundation with the support of individual donors. Notably, many of these donors have committed to providing lifetime educational support to some of the girls selected for the scholarship.

Priyanshi Patel, Founder and Managing Trustee of Karma Foundation, said, “Education is the greatest gift we can give to the next generation. We are committed to building a future where every girl has access to education, opportunities, and the freedom to pursue her dreams. This initiative is deeply personal to us. My father, Shri Nilesh Patel, strongly believed in the importance of educating girls, and what started as a tribute to his vision has grown into a mission to support as many girls as possible. By supporting the education of 500 girls over the next five years, we hope to ignite a spark of hope and ambition in their lives.”

Established in memory of the late Shri Nilesh K. Patel, co-founder of NK Proteins Private Limited, the scholarship scheme—meant for girls from Classes 1 to 10—reflects his unwavering belief in the transformative power of education for girls. The selection process for the scholarship involves several steps, beginning with a survey form to identify potential recipients. After reviewing the necessary documents, volunteers visit the girls’ homes to meet them and their parents, gaining valuable insights into their backgrounds and connecting with their families. Eligible students receive financial aid of Rs 15,000 each.

In addition to the scholarship scheme, the Foundation runs schools for street children under its ‘Prayas’ initiative. This initiative has already benefited hundreds of street children across Ahmedabad by providing them with basic education.
