NSDC, LESDE and Medhavi Skills come together for the development of international centre for innovation and skills excellence in Mizoram

National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) signed an MoU on June 20 with Labour, Employment Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (LESDE) department of the Government of Mizoram and Sikkim-based Medhavi Skills University (MSU) to develop an international centre for innovation and skills excellence in Mizoram for skilling the youth, pursuing domestic and overseas employment opportunities in hospitality and tourism sectors and in their allied areas.

The centre intends to create an industry aligned skill training ecosystem to benefit the students who aspire to build their careers in the hospitality and tourism sectors. The partnership envisions to widen the emerging talent, foster academic knowledge, and improve job readiness to increase the employability of the youth in the region. The MoU was exchanged between Shri Ved Mani Tiwari, CEO, NSDC and MD, NSDC International; Kuldip Sarma Pro Chancellor, MSU and Shri Lalramsanga Sailo, Secretary, LESDE.

Aiming to enhance the performance of such centres and creating better job opportunities for their students, the collaboration focuses on carrying out knowledge sharing, course development, boosting trainer skill sets, providing benchmarked standard training accompanied with the state-of-the infrastructure to upskill the residential youth.

Speaking on the collaboration,  Ved Mani Tiwari, CEO, NSDC and MD, NSDC International said, the hospitality and tourism sector has experienced a remarkable surge in demand for skilled professionals in recent years, making it essential to empower Indian youth with industry-specific skills to meet the needs of today’s business environment. Addressing this demand, the international centre for innovation and skills excellence will act as an enabler for unlocking the true potential of India’s demographic. The collaboration between NSDC, LESDE, and MSU will serve as a catalyst in enhancing the skill sets of the aspiring students. The youth from the Northeast have shown immense potential and through partnerships like these, we want to further build their capabilities and ensure that their future is beaming with success.

Under the partnership, NSDC will act as the knowledge partner and will leverage its extensive network to connect the Centre of Excellence (CoE) with employers from various countries to improve overseas job placements opportunities for the youth. The organization will also coordinate, facilitate strategic tie-ups with the international institutions, skilling institutions, and will introduce exchange programmes to upgrade the skills sets of the youth in the hospitality and tourism sectors and will certify them to raise their employability.

LESDE will provide comprehensive guidance and advisory support throughout the process. It will be responsible for building the outreach of the centre, as well as bolstering awareness  of new courses, ensuring a thorough and seamless learning experience in the domain. MSU will oversee the enrolment of the candidates, counselling, and shortlisting of candidates, coordinating with overseas employers and hiring of trainers, catering to the educational needs of students and aligning with industry demands. One of the key role of MSU is to imparting high quality skill training to candidates in accordance to meet the demand of skilled workforce in India and international markets.
