The Apparel Made-Ups and Home Furnishing Sector Skill Council (AMH SSC) in an effort to enhance excellence in the production processes and skilled professionals within the apparel industry is planning to open Centre of Excellence (COE) in Karur, Guwahati, Kolkata, Delhi, Jaipur, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Sangli and Trivandrum in addition to the existing COEs in Noida and Tirupur.  This was stated by AMH SSC Chairmann Dr. A. Sakthivel (Padmashree awardee), during signing of a MoU for a COE in Coimbatore.

Coimbatore-based PSGR Krishnammal College for Women (PSGRKCW), a well-known autonomous aided institution offering self-financing Arts and Science courses, is going to house this State-of-the-Art Centre of Excellence (COE) under this series. MSDE through AMH SSC and other partners has the vision of establishing a substantial number of Centers of Excellence to develop advanced skills required by the industry.

For the COE in Coimbatore, a MoU was signed between Apparel Made-Ups and Home Furnishing Sector Skill Council (AMH SSC) and PSGRKCW on Sep 11 in New Delhi. Shankararaagavan, Joint Director, COE, Tirupur, and Dr P. Meena, Principal, PSGRKCW, officiated the MoU signing in presence of Dr. A. Sakthivel, Chairman of AMH SSC.

Dr. Sakthivel speaking on the occasion stressed the importance of preparing qualified personnel to meet the industry’s demands for excellence, emphasizing the necessity for numerous Centers of Excellence, nationwide.

Dr. P. Meena expressed her gratitude to AMHSSC for choosing PSGRKCW College, Coimbatore, as the location for their COE. She assured Dr Sakthivel that PSGRKCW would conduct top-tier skilling training programs at the COE, producing the best talent to meet the industry’s demands.
