PwC India on October 16 announced the launch of the Aspiring Women Leaders Scholarship, an initiative designed to provide targeted support for female students, from India’s prestigious academic institutions – Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli, Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology, and other empaneled institutes. The scholarship also aims to support women from modest economic backgrounds, ensuring that opportunity remains inclusive and reaches students from diverse contexts.
The scholarship will initially be open to eligible students entering their second year of Bachelor of Technology (BTech)/ Bachelor of Engineering (BE) programmes at the participating institutions, which will continue for the remainder of their course. In subsequent years, the programme will expand to include first-year students, extending the opportunity to support promising young women from earlier in their academic journey.
Candidates are selected through a structured, multi-stage process designed to ensure both merit and fairness. This includes an eligibility screening, an online assessment, and panel interviews conducted by a committee comprising PwC India leaders and external experts. Final selections are made in consultation with the respective institutes.
The scholarship will cover entire academic fees for selected students, provide state-of-the-art laptops, and offer continued mentorship opportunities, technical workshops, voluntary internships, and pre-placement opportunities with PwC India where eligible. Through this combination of financial empowerment and opportunities for learning and professional exposure, the initiative aims to help students take confident steps towards their careers.
“India’s future depends on giving every young person the opportunity to realise their potential. We believe that creating more equitable pathways for women in technology is an important part of that future. Through the Aspiring Women Leaders Scholarship, we are doing our part to open doors for women by supporting their education, skills and career journeys. Our hope is that these opportunities will help nurture a generation of talented women leaders who will shape India’s growth and create a more inclusive future,” said Sanjeev Krishan, Chairperson, PwC in India.
Vivek Prasad, Chief People Officer, PwC India, added, “This scholarship exemplifies our ‘skills-first’ approach to talent development and our commitment to building a strong pipeline of women leaders.”
