C19 Pandemic may have confined the students to their homes but not their patriotic spirit and determination on this Independence Day.  Lot of schools in Delhi NCR have remodeled the celebrations and will be using the virtual mode to keep the tradition and celebration alive. It is also going to get very creative and engaging for children.

According to Seema Kaur, Principal, Pacific World School, Greater Noida, her school would be hosting a mix of virtual events related to the history of this day. “Creative craft activities will also be a part of our celebration, our sincere efforts would be to make students realize the value of sacrifice made by our freedom fighters and their duties as a responsible citizen. Group discussions on relevance of freedom in present times would be arranged for senior classes, and face paintings, t-shirt painting, fancy dress, slogan recital activities would be for the junior classes,” she said.

Similarly, DPS Rajnagar Extension, Ghaziabad is planning to hoist the National Flag and stream it live as a part of their E-morning assembly on 15th August. Pallavi Upadhyaya, Principal of the school said, “ Independence Day has always been a very colorful celebration in our school, but this time we have tried keeping the same energy through virtual medium. The assembly would be conducted around a Hindi Patriotic poem, and students from classes 6th-8th would be preparing a Nukkad Natak on the honourable freedom fighter, Bhagat Singh. Painting and colouring competitions would also be arranged for the junior classes on the theme of Tricolour.”

Virtual celebrations being a first of its kind may pose its own challenges but provides a big room for experimentation, which is nothing new for schools and teachers. Combined efforts and support from parents is coming as really crucial facilitator for success of virtual ‘schooling’.  Sangeeta Hajela, Principal, DPS Indirapuram  adds,”Our aim is that the pride and nationalistic spirit associated with India’s Independence Day reaches every child’s household. We have planned to conduct two assemblies for the same, Junior and Senior School Assembly. It is being conducted with dedicated efforts from teachers and students. Small presentations on the relevance of freedom day and unfurling of the National Flag in school premises by one of our school authority members would be streamed live to students in the morning.”
