Shivaji College, University of Delhi, marked World Entrepreneurs’ Day on Aug 21 with a dynamic celebration focused on the theme “Entrepreneurship as a Career Opportunity.” Organized under the Udhmodya Committee – a joint initiative of Udhmodya, The Entrepreneurship Cell, and Enactus Shivaji – the event highlighted how entrepreneurship can serve as a powerful pathway to impactful careers.

The program was graced by Prof. Amita Gupta, Professor & Head of Biochemistry and Director at CIIDRET & DSSEED, University of Delhi, who served as the Chief Guest. She emphasized innovation-driven growth and the integration of entrepreneurship into education under NEP 2020. She also showcased University-led initiatives such as the Udhmodya Foundation Incubation Centre and entrepreneurship-oriented GE courses.

Mr. Kumar Kartikey Yadav, Assistant Controller, Patent & Design, Patent Office, Ministry of Commerce and Industry (DPIIT), delivered a keynote address on “The Strategic Role of Patents in Startups.” He stressed the importance of intellectual property in safeguarding innovation, boosting competitiveness, and attracting investors.

Vice Principal Prof. Tejbir Singh Rana and Dr. Chhavi Sharma, Convener of the Udhmodya Committee, reiterated the college’s commitment to nurturing entrepreneurial thinking and providing students with a platform to explore startup ideas.

Interactive sessions explored problem-solving methods, startup registration, funding opportunities, and IP protection strategies. The event inspired students to view entrepreneurship as a transformative career choice, reaffirming Shivaji College’s mission to foster innovation and prepare future leaders and changemakers.
