The 5-day Sushma All India FIDE Rating Chess Championship 2024, organized by Chandigarh Chess Academy under the aegis of Chandigarh Chess Championship and All India Chess Federation from June 28-July 2 at Dev Samaj College of Education, Sector 36 B, Chandigarh, saw Akshay Anand – Punjab (8 points), Dinesh Kumar Jaganathan – Tamil Nadu (8 points), and Prithvi Sharma – Haryana (7.5 points) emerge victorious with impressive scorelines in the finals. The international-level championship, aimed to promote chess at the grassroots level and foster international camaraderie, drew 470 participants, including players from other countries, competing across various age groups. Each player was set to play nine matches over during the five days, featuring two matches daily.
The championship inaugurated by Hari Kallikkat, IAS, Secretary Sports, Chandigarh Administration (UT) had. Nitin Narang, President, All India Chess Federation (AICF), in the concluding session adding grandeur to the prize distribution ceremony.

The players showcased incredible skills and sportsmanship as players of all age groups from India and other countries competed fiercely to secure positions and walked away with exciting prizes including cash. The championship was marked by enticing matches, enthralling the audience and leaving them excited for future editions.
