TELUS International India (TII), a leading digital customer experience (CX) innovator held its annual TELUS Days of Giving (TDOG) by refurbishing Gandhi Smarak Vidyalaya, a public high school in Noida on Sep 30. More than 500 team members turned out to volunteer for the day in support of Gandhi Smarak Vidyalaya’s 1,200 students.

During the activity, the team members refurbished three buildings with 20 classrooms as well as several hallways and staircases. They also refurbished hundreds of school desks and benches and donated an additional 210 desks and benches. For the school’s newly built computer lab, TELUS International India will donate 35 computers, together with desks and chairs. And because the day-to-day experiences of students at school are not limited to the classrooms, the company also built a basketball court, planted several garden areas, and created beautiful murals all around the school premises.

In addition to the school renovations, the volunteers from TELUS International India also interacted with students during a career workshop and mentoring activity that was designed to help the students prepare for their upcoming university interview sessions.

“India has one of the largest and most diverse education systems in the world, with a substantial youth population. The importance of contributing to the future of India’s youth is reflected in the country’s National Education Policy which aims to bring vital transformation in our education system. At TELUS International India, we understand the transformative power of education which can help create job opportunities for the underprivileged and ultimately contribute to nation building. During this TELUS Day of Giving, we reinforce our commitment to contribute back to our communities” said Rajiv M. Dhand, Regional Vice-President for TELUS International Asia-Pacific and Africa.

Speaking on the occasion, Principal of Gandhi Smarak Vidyalaya, Hemendra Kumar shared, “On behalf of the teachers and students at Gandhi Smarak Vidyalaya, we thank the TELUS International India team for their contributions to transform our school and create a more conducive and better environment for learning. The work they have done today will have a lasting impact in the everyday lives of the learners in our school.”
