Woxsen University’s RACE Football Field has been awarded the prestigious FIFA Quality Pro Certification. This distinction makes Woxsen University the first university in India, and among few globally to achieve this honour, underscoring its strong commitment to providing world-class sports infrastructure for students and athletes.
The RACE Football Field forms a core part of Woxsen University’s sports ecosystem, offering students a platform to hone their skills in a professional environment. The university’s competitive football team actively participates in inter- and intra-university tournaments, reflecting its dedication to fostering athletic excellence.
The certification, granted by FIFA, attests that Woxsen University’s football turf, installed by FieldTurf Inc., meets the highest global standards set under the FIFA Quality Programme for Football Turf – FIFA Quality Pro. This ensures that Woxsen’s facilities provide the finest conditions for competitive and professional-level football.
On receiving the certification, Nilanjan Datta, Sports Director at Woxsen University, expressed his delight, stating, “The FIFA badge is the ultimate feather in the cap which every organization aspires for. The stringent quality checks that any FIFA certified turf goes through makes it the safest and best to play football on. This prestigious accreditation sets us apart from other Indian universities. A FIFA certified football turf is always safe to train on. Besides enhancing the quality of play, it reduces the risk of injuries. The FIFA certified turf at Woxsen is soft and a plush carpet wherein one can train day in and day out irrespective of the weather.”
Earlier, Woxsen University also took a significant step in strengthening its sports program by appointing former Indian football captain Subrata Paul as an Executive Fellow. His presence on campus inspires aspiring athletes, adding another layer of excellence to the university’s sports initiatives.
