1st edition of HDFC ERGO Insurance Quiz Senior engages 444 colleges across India

HDFC ERGO General Insurance Company, recently conducted the first edition of Insurance Quiz Senior, a nationwide initiative, aimed at building an Insurance-Secured India and creating awareness among undergraduate college students all over the country. The grand finale witnessed a thrilling face-off among the top five teams from across the country.

Emerging victorious after a gripping contest were Anshul Kumar Thakur and Chaitanya Prabhakar from Ramjas College, Delhi University. The first and second runner-up positions were secured by Bits Pilani KK Birla Goa Campus (Arjun Gautam and Ishaan Semwal) and The LNM IIT (Ayush Agarwal and Toshit Pradeep Kumar), respectively, showcasing the immense talent and enthusiasm of college students. Kumar Varun was the host for the grand finale as Quiz Master.

The winners of the quiz were awarded a prize money of Rs. 1.5 lakhs, followed by Rs. 1 lakh for 1st runner-up and Rs. 50,000 for 2nd runner-up along with paid internship with HDFC ERGO General Insurance. The quiz was designed to equip undergraduate college students with key knowledge about insurance and risk management. The finalists of the quiz also got a chance of a tour to a leading tech company office at Mumbai.

Insurance Quiz Senior follows the successful nine-year run of the Insurance Quiz Junior, which has engaged over 25 lakh school students nationwide since 2016. Taking the legacy forward during the 10th year of the school quiz, this year, the Company has introduced the first edition of Insurance Quiz Senior for the undergraduate college students.

The journey of Insurance Quiz Senior began with a massive pool of 579 teams, 444 colleges, and 1100+ students from across 140+ cities of India, in the preliminary rounds. Following this, the competition was divided into four geographical zones (North, South, East, West). The top six teams from each zone competed in a zonal round, with the winner of each advancing to the finale. A fifth finalist team earned their spot through a competitive eliminator round.

Commenting on the launch, Anuj Tyagi, MD & CEO, HDFC ERGO General Insurance, said, “In a recent survey we commissioned, it was revealed that 44%of Gen Z shy away from purchasing health insurance due to lack of awareness. With the launch of the Insurance Quiz Senior, we aim to address this gap by equipping young adults with essential knowledge around insurance and risk management, empowering them to make informed financial and insurance decisions as they step into their professional careers.”
