The Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIMK) has launched Gyanodaya – Centre for Pedagogical Innovation and Publishing, a first-of-its-kind initiative designed to build a vibrant, inclusive, and globally relevant knowledge ecosystem.

Announcing this latest Centre of Excellence at IIM Kozhikode Prof. Debashis Chatterjee, Director, IIM Kozhikode shared  “The future of education lies not just in delivering knowledge, but in reimagining how it is created, contextualized, and shared. Gyanodaya is IIM Kozhikode’s leap toward that future. Envisioned as a Centre of Excellence under IIMK’s Vision 2047 and aligned with the aspirations of India’s National Education Policy (NEP), the Centre aims to become a crucible for cutting-edge pedagogy, publishing excellence, and knowledge sharing grounded in Indian wisdom and global best practices.”

Professor Atanu Adhikari, the founding Head of the Gyanodaya, further added “The name Gyanodaya, combining ‘Gyan’ (knowledge) and ‘Udaya’ (dawn), reflects our ambition to make Indian wisdom transcend national borders and inspire learners worldwide. Gyanodaya is built on the tenets of pedagogical excellence, global relevance, and the sharing of indigenous knowledge. We aim to establish a win-win-win model—where learners, authors, and institutions benefit symbiotically.”

A Vision beyond Publishing

Gyanodaya addresses both immediate and long-term academic needs. In the short run, it is focused on developing and disseminating peer-reviewed content such as case studies, simulations, monographs, books, and research notes. Over time, the Centre aims to emerge as a global hub for educational innovation, fostering collaborations among institutions, faculty, and practitioners worldwide.

Already, Gyanodaya has made a strong start—over 30 original case studies have been published, accompanied by detailed teaching notes, spanning disciplines from Marketing and Finance to Humanities and Liberal Arts. The Centre has also spotlighted four thought-provoking books authored by IIMK faculty and introduced three novel pedagogical models tailored to today’s evolving classrooms.

Streamlined, Rigorous & Rooted in Relevance

To maintain academic integrity and publishing efficiency, Gyanodaya operates with the support of Pandulipi, a home-grown online manuscript management platform developed by IIMK’s web team. The platform enables seamless submission and incorporates a three-stage peer review system, with reviewers selected for both domain expertise and pedagogical insight. This ensures that each publication is academically sound, globally contextual, and classroom-ready.

Building a Global Knowledge Commons

Gyanodaya’s mission extends beyond institutional boundaries. Its bi-annual newsletter, Gyanodaya Samvad, offers regular updates, interviews, and insights into the evolving landscape of educational innovation. The Centre actively invites collaborations with scholars, educators, and institutions to co-create resources that respond to real-world challenges through a uniquely Indian lens.

As IIM Kozhikode continues to redefine the contours of management education, Gyanodaya stands as a bold statement of intent—a move to not only publish knowledge but to shape the way it is taught, absorbed, and applied for generations to come.
