St.Xavier’s High School, Ghaziabad (NH 24), on July 25-26 organized a two-day webinar that included Mandala Workshop and Anger Management webinar sessions. Jayashree Arora, a motivational speaker and film, TV and theatre actor, conducted the anger management session live on facebook.
Around 500 students explored new realms of their artistic bent in the Mandala Workshop & Competition which was open to the age group of 5-15 years and conducted by Karishma, Art teacher of the school. The participants learned about the brief history of Mandala art form and created different patterns from geometrical designs during the workshop.
Anger Management session conducted on Sunday helped the students in learning and comprehending the changing surroundings. Jayashree Arora, who has played Bhagwanti in Doordarshan’s iconic TV serial Hum Log and Shah Rukh Khan’s mother in Chak De India addressed parents and students by suggesting tips on how to manage frustration & anxiety and create stronger base for communication in the family. “Anger has become a common emotion in this lockdown, amongst parents, children and teachers. It can be very well managed if we understand the origin of this emotion scientifically- our brain has two hemispheres- right and left. Right part becomes active in frustration, but left part lets the logic sink in. In order to manage our anger, we must give ourselves some time and let the left brain activate the logical side. Teenagers must also avoid getting in such situations when they already know their parents won’t like it. It is easier said than done, but after all we love our families. Anger can ruin relationships and nobody wants that, so it is better we manage it by distractions, open communication and being empathetic to each other.”
St. Xavier’s hosted this webinar for its students fully understanding that the students in their early years must be guided in the right direction that can help them learn and grow. Lateral and vertical thinking both are equally important for the students to perform well in academics and co-curricular activities.
