Scholarship deadline extension
Sheffield Hallam University has announced the extension of its deadline for Indian students to apply for one of the Transform Together scholarships and the GREAT scholarships for MSc Sports Business Management until 31st July 2014. Scholarship winners for postgraduate courses receive a 100% tuition fee discount. Successful applicants to undergraduate courses receive a 50% tuition fee discount for each year of study.
The International Office Newcastle University India Scholarships (NUIS)announces eight Newcastle University Indian Scholarships for postgraduate applicants. These are available for high achieving Indian students applying for entry onto taught degree programmes within the Faculties of Humanities and Social Sciences (HaSS), Science, Agriculture and Engineering (SAgE) and Medical Sciences (FMS) commencing their studies in September 2014. National Child Rights Research Fellowship
Child Rights and You (CRY), a nonprofit organization working to ensure lasting change in children’s lives, invites applications from research fellows exploring various dimensions of child rights, within the broad understanding of justice for children. Up to five fellowships ranging from Rs. 50, 000 to Rs. 1 lakh will be awarded. The fellowship aims at providing an opportunity for researchers, to work on various issues, including evidence on relationships between ethnicity, inequality and conflict as witnessed or experienced by children and exploration of relationships a child has with other children, community, state and family.
The deadline for submitting the application for the fellowship is June 20th, 2014 and the names of selected researchers will be announced on CRY website in September 2014.
The candidates should be more than 18 years of age and must be Indian citizens. They can choose any Indian language, including English for their research. The essential requirements for the application include a three-page proposal, which briefly explains the topic of study, objectives and outlines the research question within a framework, proposed methodology, time lines, a reading list of related literature/existing studies on the subject and a detailed budget. Also, a two-page updated CV, sample of published or unpublished paper and details of references are to be sent.
4th Edition of Volvo Sustainable Mobility Awards
Volvo is inviting stakeholders from among citizen groups/NGOs, organisations/ consultancies, and institutions among others, to participate in the 4th Edition of the awards. The Volvo Sustainable Mobility Awards aims to reward progressive and practical action in the area of promoting sustainable solutions in urban mobility. Projects submitted in the previous years’ address diverse areas such as bus transport, metro & commuter rail services, integration of multiple modes of transportation, urban planning, road planning, promoting non-motorised transport, pedestrian rights to safety & convenience and addressing environmental concerns, besides promoting new technologies to peopleThis year the overall prize money has been increased to INR 1.2 million. This would include INR 700,000 for the winner, INR 300,000 for 1st runner-up and, inclusion of new category for 2nd runner up, which will get INR 200,000. Registrations for the awards have started and the last date to register is August 31, 2014.
