BML Munjal University (BMU), a Hero Group initiative, on Oct 26 hosted its 11th Convocation Ceremony for the Class of 2026, celebrating the graduation of 723 eligible students across disciplines including engineering, management, law and liberal arts. The ceremony, held at the University’s campus, was graced by Mr Sandeep Bakshi, MD & CEO of ICICI Bank, as the Chief Guest, along with other distinguished guests and senior leadership of the University.

This year, the graduating cohort included 303 students from the School of Engineering and Technology, 392 from the School of Management, 27 from the School of Law and one from the School of Liberal Studies. The batch also included two Ph.D. scholars from the School of Engineering and Technology.

The ceremony recognised outstanding academic achievers, with three students receiving the prestigious Dr. Brij Mohan Lall Munjal Medal and 10 students being awarded the Academic Excellence Medal across various disciplines for their exceptional academic performance. The University also conferred alumni awards on three former students in recognition of their professional achievements, entrepreneurial leadership and contributions to society.

The Dr. Brij Mohan Lall Munjal Medal was awarded to Namokar Jain from the BBA programme, Manavendra Singh from B.Tech and Sieya Bhatia from B.A. LL.B. (Hons.). The Academic Excellence Medal was awarded to 10 students across engineering, management and law programmes. The recipients were Manav, Shivani Sharma, Himanshu Sharma, Abhinav Chourasiya, Namokar Jain, B. Ashwath, Arinjai Jain, Mohd Humam Khan, Akanksha Tripathy and Vishal Garg.

The University conferred the Emerging Alumni Excellence Award on Manu J. Nair, a B.Tech Mechanical Engineering alumnus from the Class of 2020, in recognition of his achievements in aerospace innovation, space technology and entrepreneurship. Nair is the Co-Founder and CEO of Ethereal Exploration Guild, which is working towards the development of a fully reusable medium-lift launch vehicle. His professional journey has also included work with the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and Manastu Space.

The Alumni Social Impact Award was conferred on Ajay Kumar and Vindhya Mehrotra, MBA alumni from the Class of 2023 and co-founders of Fery Rides, a mobility venture focused on women’s safety and empowerment. Through their work, the founders are working to improve mobility experiences for women while creating livelihood opportunities for women drivers.

Addressing the graduates, Mr. Sunil Kant Munjal, Chancellor, BML Munjal University, said: “The world is going through a period of churn, shaped by shifting geopolitics and emerging technologies such as AI. Yet with this uncertainty and change comes excitement and opportunity. At BMU, our aim has always been to prepare our students for every walk of life. We have exposed them to real-world situations and essential life skills, so that they become leaders who are ethical, aware, curious and mindful of the environment. Handling change is the ability we have always believed in teaching. I urge our graduates to equip themselves for the new roles that technology will create, and I hope they embrace change, adapt and move forward with confidence. Amidst all this, I hope they also carry with them a responsibility to the nation and to the world. We sincerely thank our graduates for trusting us with their future, and we wish them all the very best.”

Speaking at the ceremony, Prof. Shyam Menon, Vice Chancellor, BML Munjal University, said, “Convocation is a milestone, but not an ending. Our graduates leave BMU carrying not only knowledge, but the values and habits of mind that will shape the choices they make. Education must prepare young people for more than a profession. It must prepare them for life, with all its uncertainty and possibility. I hope our graduates stay curious, have the courage to chart their own paths, and use their abilities to make a real difference to society. We are proud of what they have achieved, and prouder still of what they will go on to become.”
