The Career Development Cell (CDC) of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee recently conducted an outreach event, “Career Compass,” to provide guidance and insights in navigating their career paths to school students. Many students from classes 9th to 12th across various schools in Roorkee joined the event.
The event brought together eminent faculty members, Heads of Departments, and professionals from diverse fields, including defense, medicine, law, economics, architecture, and more, to share their expertise and experiences and enrich the knowledge base on these students who are trying to make an informed decision regarding the career path to be chosen.
Unlike traditional lecture series, Career Compass provided a platform for interactive sessions where students actively engaged with the speakers, asking questions, and resolving doubts about their career paths. This exchange of ideas not only enriched the students’ understanding but also helped them gain a clearer vision of their future aspirations.
Career Compass, as part of the pre-event activities leading up to COMET’24 (Career Orientation and Mentorship for Emerging Talents), embodies IIT Roorkee’s legacy of dedication to societal impact and contribution. COMET’24, with its tagline “IIT Roorkee’s Annual Career Odyssey,” promises to be a transformative experience for all participants, further reinforcing the institute’s commitment to nurturing talent and shaping the future leaders of our nation.
Prof. K.K. Pant, Director of IIT Roorkee, expressed deep appreciation for the enthusiastic response to the Career Compass event, underscoring the institute’s unwavering commitment to nurturing the next generation with vision, knowledge, and guidance. He highlighted that both Career Compass and COMET’24 exemplify IIT Roorkee’s dedication to excellence across education, research, and societal impact.
