The NSS Cell of the Sharda University, Greater Noida, under the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign conducted a tree plantation drive on July 9 during which faculty and students planted various species of saplings including neem, peepal, jamun, guava, and mango.

On this occasion, YK Gupta, Pro Chancellor, Sharda University emphasized the need to make the younger generation aware in order to accelerate and successfully accomplish the campaign. He stated that educational institutions can play a crucial role in this mission. Teachers can not only educate students about the benefits of plantation but also instill a sense of responsibility towards nurturing the plants. By integrating the importance of plants into every subject taught in the classroom, this campaign can be given a new direction.

Dr. Sibaram Khara, Vice Chancellor, added that schools can play a vital role in raising awareness in society about plantation. Along with creating awareness among the youth, there is also a need to encourage them. When youth and children are motivated to care for the saplings after planting them, more of them will connect with the campaign. Additionally, plants should be associated with relationships to foster a sense of care and responsibility.

The event was also attended by Dr. Bhuvnesh Kumar, Dr. R.C. Singh, R.D. Sahay, Dr. Shanti Narayan, Dr. Suman Lata Dhar, Dr. Krista Mathew, and several Deans and Heads of Departments from various faculties.
